Through humour, storytelling and interactive processes, Dr. Marcia Tate will share the research and strategies that engage learners and develop the academic achievement of all students. These days will link to Dr. Tate’s prior work in the district (March 2007) as well as the Linking Thinking and Literacy Day (October 2007) presented by Consulting
Services.
Classroom teachers and school leaders will engage in dialogue that will:
- deepen their understanding of the connection between brain research and learning
- link the purposeful use of strategies that promote student engagement with essential areas of instruction across the curriculum;
- uncover ways of infusing these strategies into learning communities in order to meet the diverse needs of all students.

- Currently a National Educational Consultant who received the 2001 Distinguished
Staff Developer Award for the State of Georgia and the 2002 Exemplary Program Award for the State;
- Author of numerous books including Worksheets Don’t Grow Dendrites and “Sit and Get” Won’t Grow Dendrites;
- 30-year career, as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, language arts coordinator, and staff development director;
- Doctorate in Educational Leadership, awarded the 1994 Apple Award for excellence in the field of education.
